About Computer Science Department

MITS School of Biotechnology (MSB) established the department of Computer Science (CS) in 2007 with an initial intake of 60 BCA (undergraduate) students, enhanced by 68 BCA seats in 2008-09, and got permanent recognition for 128 BCA seats in 2014-15. An Under Graduate program (B. Sc.) in ITM was introduced in 2023-24 with an intake of 120 seats. The BCA program was duly approved by AICTE and having permanent recognition from Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Odisha. The BSc-ITM course is temporarily recognized by the Regional Directorate, Higher Education, Govt. of Odiha. Both the Programs are regulated as per the syllabus and regulations designed by the affiliating Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The department of CS feels proud to announce that this Institution has received the prequalification accreditation SSR before NAAC in May, 2024(cycle-1). The department of CS is leaping forward with strength by strength over the years.

The department is headed by Dr. Tapaswini Nayak and it has 20 teaching faculty. 2 of our faculty members are with doctoral degree, and 3 are pursuing. Cadre-wise break up of the faculty position is as under:

The department has well equipped laboratories with above 160 computer systems spread over, branded servers, UPS, scanner and laser printers.

Teaching aids like LCD are made available

Internet facility is provided to students to upgrade and be well in touch with contemporary developments

Centrally organized placement cell.

Guest lectures, seminars, campus recruitment training and other programs are conducted with renowned faculty

Air-conditioned laboratories, conference hall are made available.
